Implementasi Pemberian Hot Pack untuk Menurunkan Grade Shivering pada Pasien Pasca Operasi dengan Spinal Anestesi di RS Jatiwinangun

This community service program aimed to implement the use of Hot Packs to reduce the grade of shivering in post-operative patients undergoing spinal anesthesia at Jatiwinangun Surgical Hospital, Purwokerto. Post-anesthetic shivering is a common complication that may increase oxygen consumption, metabolic demand, and cardiovascular risk, therefore requiring effective management. The method included preoperative education and direct implementation of Hot Pack application on 41 patients experiencing shivering, assessed using the Crossley and Mahajan Scale before and after the intervention. The activated Hot Packs were placed simultaneously on both palms and both axillary areas for 15 minutes in the recovery room, followed by reassessment of shivering grade. The results showed a decrease in shivering grade after the intervention, indicating that Hot Pack application is effective as a non-pharmacological therapy to increase body temperature and reduce shivering symptoms, and may serve as a complementary management strategy to improve service quality and patient comfort after spinal anesthesia.
