Career planning is increasingly crucial amid globalization and digital transformation that are rapidly reshaping the world of work through automation, digitalization, and intense global labor competition. This article aims to explain the process of self-assessment, describe career and work exploration, analyze the setting of effective and realistic career goals, and outline career development strategies for achieving professional success. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach, namely reviewing, comparing, and synthesizing relevant national and international scholarly literature through content analysis. The findings show that career planning is a systematic and interconnected process: self-assessment serves as the foundation for recognizing interests, talents, abilities, personality, and values; career exploration provides a realistic picture of opportunities and competency demands; setting specific and challenging career goals strengthens motivation and focus; and career development strategies—through competency enhancement, lifelong learning, professional networking, work experience, and periodic evaluation—sustain career continuity. Career planning is therefore not merely about choosing a job, but a continuous effort to enhance one's capacity in order to remain relevant and adaptive to the changes of the modern world of work.
