Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance disaster preparedness among elementary school students in Tilongkabila, Gorontalo, a region prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and liquefaction. The lack of disaster education in local schools prompted the development of an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning application. This AR application allows students to understand natural disaster phenomena visually and interactively through 3D visualizations and mitigation steps. The technology is expected to improve students' understanding of disaster risks in their area and the necessary mitigation actions. Initial socialization of the disaster AR application was carried out, involving over 80% of teachers and 40 students from elementary schools in Tilongkabila. This activity aimed to enhance their understanding and skills in disaster preparedness and using the AR application effectively. The results showed that over 90% of teachers and students could use the AR application well. This program is intended to create a stronger disaster preparedness culture in schools and the surrounding community. It is hoped that this program can be expanded to other schools in Tilongkabila and other disaster-prone areas, promoting broader and sustainable disaster preparedness.
