Abstract

Nutritional issues remain a challenge in public health development in Indonesia, marked by the persistently high rate of malnutrition and the increasing prevalence of overnutrition. One effort that can be made to improve public understanding of healthy eating patterns is through balanced nutrition education utilizing local food potential. This community service activity aims to increase public knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of implementing balanced nutrition based on local Acehnese food. The activity was carried out in Lamreung Village, Darul Imarah District, Aceh Besar Regency in 2026, targeting the general public, especially housewives who play a role in providing family food. The method used was educational education through presentation media delivery followed by discussion and questions and answers. The material provided covered the concept of balanced nutrition, the importance of consuming a diverse diet, and the use of local foods such as fish, vegetables, nuts, fruit, and tubers as a source of family nutrition. The results of the activity showed that participants participated in the education enthusiastically and actively participated in the discussion session. Some participants previously did not fully understand the principles of balanced nutrition and the importance of consuming a diverse diet. After the activity, participants gained a better understanding of the composition of healthy foods and how to utilize local foods to meet family nutritional needs. This outreach activity is expected to raise public awareness about implementing healthy eating patterns and balanced nutrition, thereby supporting improved family health in Lamreung Village.
