. Hamis Batar is a traditional harvest thanksgiving ritual originating from the Belu and Malaka regions of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This study examines the Hamis Batar ritual as a form of liturgical inculturation within the Catholic community of St. Michael Parish, Biudukfoho, Atambua Diocese. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores the dynamics of the harvest thanksgiving expression and its contribution to the spiritual resilience of the congregation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the Hamis Batar ritual has undergone a process of inculturation in which traditional elements—such as the offering of the first corn harvest (batar tinan), communal prayer led by traditional elders, and the symbolic placement of corn on the ai tos/ai dudun—are integrated with Catholic liturgical practices, including the celebration of the Eucharist and thanksgiving prayers. This integration not only preserves local cultural heritage but also strengthens the spiritual resilience of the congregation by reinforcing their identity as Catholics who remain rooted in their cultural traditions. The ritual fosters a sense of gratitude, communal solidarity, and trust in Divine providence, which collectively contribute to the community’s ability to face life’s challenges. This study concludes that the Hamis Batar ritual, when understood as liturgical inculturation, serves as a vital means of faith formation and spiritual resilience for the Catholic community in the border region of Atambua.
