Analisis Persepsi Mahasiswa Program Studi Bahasa Indonesia terhadap Kemampuan Berbahasa Indonesia dan Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhinya

This study examined the perceptions of students in the Indonesian Language Program regarding their proficiency in the Indonesian language using a quantitative approach to obtain an objective picture of students’ perceptions of their proficiency in the Indonesian language. The research instruments included a questionnaire and interviews involving 42 students from the Indonesian Language Program at Indraprasta PGRI University. The results concluded that students’ perceptions of their language proficiency were generally positive and quite adequate. Sixty-nine percent of students perceived themselves as having good Indonesian language proficiency, yet only 43% demonstrated proficiency in morphology, 40% in syntax, and 40% in semantics. This situation is influenced by factors such as motivation, interest, self-confidence, the quality of instruction, teaching methods, the social environment, and literacy experiences. Students’ interest in becoming Indonesian language teachers is relatively high, reaching 81%, but this must be balanced with a more structured and practical improvement in language competency. Sustained efforts are needed from the study program to strengthen language learning, enhance literacy practices, and build students’ self-confidence.
