Dampak Penggunaan Gadget Berlebihan terhadap Konsentrasi Belajar di MA Al Hikmah

This study aims to analyze the impact of excessive gadget use on students’ concentration during learning at MA Al Hikmah and to identify the factors influencing it. This study employs a literature review method by examining various scientific sources such as relevant journals, articles, and books, which were then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the majority of students use gadgets with high intensity, specifically more than 2–3 hours per day and even up to over 5 hours, with usage predominantly focused on non-academic activities such as social media, gaming, and digital entertainment. This situation leads to a decline in students’ academic concentration, characterized by easy distractibility, reduced memory retention, diminished motivation to learn, and disrupted sleep patterns. Additionally, gadget use also affects students’ psychological and social aspects, such as the emergence of dependency and reduced social interaction. Factors influencing these impacts include the intensity and purpose of gadget use, students’ self-control, parental and teacher supervision, social environment, psychological condition, as well as sleep patterns and time management. Therefore, prudent management of gadget use is necessary through collaboration between students, parents, and school authorities to minimize negative impacts and optimize the positive benefits of gadgets in learning.
