Pengaruh Kompetensi dan Gaya Kepemimpinan terhadap Kinerja Pegawai dengan Mediasi Perilaku Individu

This study aims to examine the influence of competence and leadership style on employee performance, with individual behavior as a mediating variable, at the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office of Pontianak City. A quantitative approach was employed by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 65 employees. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0. The results indicate that competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, whereas leadership style shows a positive but insignificant direct effect. Furthermore, competence and leadership style both have a positive and significant influence on individual behavior. Individual behavior is also found to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The mediation analysis reveals that individual behavior significantly mediates the relationship between competence and employee performance, as well as between leadership style and employee performance. These findings suggest that employee performance improvement is more effective when competence development and leadership practices are able to foster positive individual behavior. This study contributes to human resource management literature in the public sector by highlighting the crucial role of individual behavior as a mediating mechanism in transforming competence and leadership into performance outcomes.
